Thank you Ella Jenkins! 🙏 I grew up on her music and my kids have loved listening to her songs. (Did you Feed my Cow, Play Your Instruments, Who fed the chickens) My very first time on stage was at one of her concerts! She invited some kids from the audience up to sing “Hello” with her and I jumped up. I didn’t know what a mic was and worried people might not hear me so I screamed into it 😬 I only know this cause it was in the local paper. Thank you for 100 years of joyful songs and for that fortuitous invitation so many years ago 💘

New song OUT TODAY! ✨Domestic Workers Song (1939) is a B-Side from The Liberated Woman’s Songbook sessions and features the great @amyhelmmusic, @rissipalmermusic + @thecatapult

The lyrics were written in 1939 by the YWCA Committee to advocate for domestic workers rights. Proceeds from the sale of the song on Bandcamp will benefit the YWCA Chapter in Asheville, NC whose community was hit hard by Hurricane Helene. @ywcausa @ywcaofavl

Sad to hear that Kris Kristofferson is gone. I heard so many stories about him and really got to know his earliest songs when I worked with Fred Foster- pictured here with him in 1970. Fred signed him to his publishing company Combine and also wanted him to record for Monument (his label). Apparently Kristofferson didn’t think of himself as a singer- he told Fred “I sound like a frog!” To which he replied “A frog that can COMMUNICATE!” I must’ve heard that story ten times so it must be true. Grateful for the songs and for his legacy of honor, magnetism, depth… ❤️
